WASHING - DYE BLEEDS
When I received these sheets, I washed them with a white rag to see if they would bleed. Oh, and they did. So I immediately rewashed them (and the rag), again with cool water and a cup of white vinegar in the 1st rinse cycle...I've read vinegar or salt water helps with the bleeding by setting the dye (and should be repeated at least every other wash). After the 2nd rinse cycle, I checked the rag and it did not appear to have any additional purple/pink dye on it. The vinegar smell dissipated while they were in the dryer; which only took about 40 minutes. No dyes came off on my clothes or skin while either handling or sleeping under these.
SIZE - RUNS LARGE
I ordered a queen, but even the fitted sheet seemed baggy. I tucked it underneath the mattress at least six inches all around. The flat sheet was extra long, so I tucked about 12 inches under the foot of the mattress. My pillows, which are a little flat anyway, seemed to swim in these pillowcases both in length and depth. I may buy some longer, and fluffier pillows, so the pillowcases stay on better.
APPEARANCE AND TEXTURE - NICE
The sheets have a shine to them and are 100% polyester. The aubergine color is a slightly red-violet color, which is exactly what I needed to match my quilt set. The sheets are not rough, but they are also not supper soft like jersey knits either. I slept fine under these. They cost the same ($35) as the sheets I bought from Walmart, and are just as comfortable. I'm hoping the more I wash them though, the softer they may become.
